Oil industry workers more interested in joining Trade Unions Committee after strike in McDermott

The employees of the Azerbaijani oil industry companies are more interested in joining the Republic Trade Unions Committee of Employees of Oil and Gas Industry (TUCEOGI) after the strike in the U.S. McDermott Company, the Committee told Trend. “TUCEOGI has received addresses from the employees of the Binagadi Oil in this respect,” the Committee noted.

The Committee carries out regular work on improvement of social security of oil and gas industry workers, including establishment of trade unions committees in foreign companies.

“Similar committees were established in the enterprises Shirvan Oil, Salyan Oil, Azgerneft, Anshad Petrol, Lukoil Azerbaijan. 235 from 1100 employees of Bosshelf are members of trade union, while in McDermott the figure comprises 400 from 1400”, The Committee stressed.

There are around 70,000 oil and gas industry workers in Azerbaijan. A total of 56,000 are employees of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
