Anshad Petrol Joint venture (JV) sold 3,4 million cubic meters of free gas in January 2006 to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which is for 0,4 million cubic meters more of the same period in 2005, SOCAR told Trend.

Anshad Petrol produces gas on the wells of the Neftchala, Hilly and Babazan contract areas. The first sales of the free gas JV started in April 2004 in the volume of 2 million cubic meters.

According to SOCAR, in December Anshad Petrol sold 2,6 million cubic meters of gas. SOCAR buys gas from Anshad Petrol at the price of 65,000 AZM (about $13/1 thousand cubic meters) and delivers to the Azerigaz JSC, which in its turn distributes the fuel through the Aztransgaz Producing Unit (PU), a part of Azerigaz.

Anshad Petrol JV was established in 1993 between SOCAR and the Turkish Atilla Dogan Petrol based on the former Neftechalaneft Oil and Gas Producing Unit (PU). The Anshad Petrol JVs operator in 1994-1996 was Atilla Dogan Petrol, but since 1997 SOCAR undertook this function. In 1995 the Malaysian Land and General Berhad became the projects participant, having bought 17,15% from the Atilla Dogan Petrol share.
