Transactions worth 2.3 billion manat ($1.3 billion) were conducted with debit cards used in Azerbaijan as of September 2020, which is 31.4 percent growth compared to the same period of 2019, and 8.9 percent less than a month earlier, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to CBA, as of September 2020, 1.6 billion manat ($940 million) worth transactions were carried out with debit cards through ATMs across the country. Transactions in the amount of 281 million manat ($165.2 million) were carried out through POS terminals, and those ones worth 286 million manat ($168.2 million) accounted for e-commerce transactions.
As reported, the volume of transactions within the country amounted to 2.2 billion manat ($1.2 billion), which is 35.7 percent more than in the same period of last year.
During the reporting period, operations worth 109 million manat ($64.1 million) were carried out with debit cards outside the country, which shows a decline of 21 percent compared to the same period last year.
As of early September 2020, the number of debit cards in Azerbaijan reached 7.7 million, which is 20.3 percent more compared to September of last year.
