Uzbekistan notes decrease in gold exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23

The volume of gold exports from Uzbekistan in 1H2021 compared to the same period in 2020ç has decreased by 34.7 percent ($2.12 billion in 6M2020), Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the total volume of Uzbekistan’s gold exports for the reporting period in value terms amounted to $1.38 billion.

It is reported that the share of gold in total exports of Uzbekistan from January through June 2021 amounted to 19.7 percent.

In June it was reported that Uzbekistan has exported gold for the first time since September last year. Thus, in May 2021 gold in Uzbekistan was sold for almost $1.2 billion, which had a positive effect on the country's foreign trade turnover.

Earlier it was reported when Uzbekistan will resume gold exports. It was noted, Uzbekistan was expecting a peak in gold prices.

Also, according to the indicators of gold exports since 2010 published by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, over the past period the country has sold 687 tons of gold.
