BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. Tax revenues in Iran increased by 49 percent for the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Chairman of Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA), Mohammad Hadi Sobhanian said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
The chairman noted that tax revenues in Iran for the reporting month exceeded 430 trillion rials (about $10.2 billion).
“Of that amount, 190 trillion rials (about $4.52 billion) are direct taxes, and 240 trillion rials (about $5.7 billion) are taxes on goods and services,” he added.
According to Sobhanian, Iranian National Tax Administration focuses on increasing tax revenues in a transparent manner. The organization takes steps to support production in accordance with the current economic situation in the country.
The official also pointed out that one of the ways to keep inflation under control in the country is to provide stable tax revenues for government spending.
In overall, tax revenues in Iran amounted to 4.7 quadrillion rials (about $112 billion) in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). This is increase of 54 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
