Iran's services sector receives major boost from local banks

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Iranian banks granted loans totaling 14.4 quadrillion rials (about $343 billion) in the services sector of the country in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Trend reports.

Data from Iran's Central Bank shows that the following loans were allocated in the services sector:

- Working capital: approximately 10.7 quadrillion rials (about $255 billion);

- Establishment of enterprises and facilities: around 2.69 quadrillion rials (about $64 billion);

- Development work: around 717 trillion rials (about $17.1 billion);

- Self-employment: 178 trillion rials (about $4.24 billion);

- Purchase of personal assets: 69 trillion rials (about $1.64 billion);

- Purchase of housing: 27.9 trillion rials (about $664 million);

- Repair work: 11.1 trillion rials (about $264 million).

In total, the Iranian banks issued loans worth about 35.1 quadrillion rials (about $835 billion) in various economic sectors within the first 10 months of the current Iranian year.
