The Uzbek state internet provider Uzbektelecom JSC has reduced the tariff for the use of the external internet channel for operators and providers of Uzbekistan, Uzbektelecom stated.

Since July 10, 2018 the cost of the tariff for the internet channel for operators and providers connected to the International Packet Switching Center has been decreased from 244,958 soums to 176,682 soums for 1 Mbps.

The company has also reduced and established a single tariff for the internet channel, regardless of its capacity and the region of connection, for operators and providers of Uzbekistan connected through the telecommunications network of the Operation Center of the backbone network of Uzbektelecom JSC.

Earlier, the tariff was from 309,550 – 410,000 soums for 1 Mbps, depending on the region of connection and capacity of the channel. Since July 12, the cost has been 265,000 soums per 1 Mbps, regardless of region and capacity of the channel.

It is expected that this step will create favorable conditions for development of the regional internet services market in Uzbekistan.

The company's CEO Farhod Roziyev announced during the informal meeting with market participants in the GroundZero co-working center on July 9 that Uzbektelecom will offer operators and providers a franchising partnership model for development of broadband internet access.

On top of that, existing tariffs had to be revised and a single regulation system on leasing the company's infrastructure had to be developed. The policy of leasing broadband internet access ports had to be completely revised as well.

It was earlier reported that bandwidth of the external internet channel of Uzbekistan reached 140.034 Gbps, which is 1.5 times more than the figures in early 2018 (94.034 Gbps).

Roziyev also said that Uzbekistan will increase the capacity of its external internet channel to 1,200 Gbps by the end of 2018.
