By Huseyn Valiyev, Rashid Shirinov – Trend:
The level of piracy in the software market of Azerbaijan in the next three years may decline by 25 percent, Elchin Mammadov, Microsoft product Manager at BestComp Group, told Trend.
He said BestComp Group is currently implementing a joint project with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Azintelecom and Microsoft, which provides for the licensing of 20,000 computers in state agencies and 10,000 in higher education institutions.
"In addition, 155,000 licenses will be issued to students. Thus, over the next three years we will be able to reduce the level of piracy by about 20-25 percent from the current 81 percent," Mammadov noted.
He added that presently, 6 higher education institutions of the country are involved in the licensing project: ADA University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Khazar University, Western University, Baku engineering University and Azerbaijan State University of Economics.
"University students have their own domain tied to the Office 365 Suite. This allows them to register on the Microsoft portal and use Windows 10 Education with a lifetime license, as well as to get the Office licenses for five devices that can be used during their study at the university,” Mammadov said.
He added that in the near future, Azerbaijan Medical University will join the project, and all universities of Azerbaijan will join it by the end of March 2019.
“The total number of students reaches 155,000. Microsoft invests more than $80 million in the education of our students," Mammadov noted.
