Mobile operator of Uzbekistan sums up its activity for 1H2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15

Mobile operator of Uzbekistan Mobiuz has spent over 100 billion soum ($9.7 million) on technical development and modernization of networks in the first six months of 2020, Trend reports citing Mobiuz.

“Expansion of coverage and increase of 4G/3G networks capacity in the regions of the country became one of the key areas of the company's activity during this period. Thus, more than three months work was carried out in the conditions of COVID-19 related quarantine, introduced within the framework of struggle against coronavirus pandemic, with observance of all sanitary norms and requirements,” the message said.

Within the framework of the implemented Mobiuz Development Concept for the period from 2019 through 2021, mobile operator carried work on complete retrofitting of existing base stations with 4G/3G standards, replacement of obsolete base station equipment with modern ones, modernization of transport network for transmission of large amounts of data traffic, expansion of channel switching and packet switching.

As part of the planned work for 2020, Mobiuz successfully launched 930 base stations only in the first half of the year.

“Based on the chosen strategy, the company plans to put into operation at least 200 more base stations in the second half of the year, to complete preparatory work on the current facilities for full transition to 4G LTE,” the message said.
