AzDatacom Work to be Completed in 2007

All work within the project of the main network of national information delivery AzDatacom, will be completed in 2007, the Head of Ultra, Tahir Mirkishili stated, Trendreports.

Presently work on the Baku segment of AzDatacom is being completed. The full Baku segment is expected to be completed by the end of the year. In 2007 the same work will commence in other districts and cities of Azerbaijan.

Primarily the network will be connected in the regions which have optic-fibrous communication lines.

The Baku line of AzDatacom will have the capacity of up to 10 Gbps, and in the regions this figure will be 1 Gbps to be increased up to 10 Gbps in the future. The educational institutions and state organizations will be connected to the network. The Internet providers and suppliers of other types of service will be able to expand business in the regions.

The project is carried out within the technical assistance program National E-Governance Network Initiative realized jointly by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications & Information Technology and United Nations Development Program, and is one of the measures included in the State Program for Development of Information & Communication Technology in Azerbaijan (E-Azerbaijan) in 2004-2008.
