Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will operate flights to seven new destinations from Georgia's Kutaisi International Airport from September 10, said General Director of the Georgian Airports Association Georgi Chogovadze, Trend reports with reference to 1tv.ge.

Direct scheduled flights will be carried out to Basel (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Brussels (Belgium), Tallinn (Estonia), Eindhoven (Netherlands), Bari (Italy) and Poznan (Poland).

There are currently no direct flights from Georgia to Switzerland, Denmark and Estonia.

“In addition to the existing 21 European destinations, Wizz Air, from September 10, will gradually launch flights to seven new European destinations. The third modern “Airbus A 320” type aircraft will start operating on the airline’s base at Kutaisi international airport, which means that the crew on new flights will be fully staffed with local personnel,” said Georgi Chogovadze.

According to him, in addition to creating new jobs, the appointment of new destinations will play an important role in attracting new tourist flows from Europe to Georgia, which is one of the key priorities of the country's economic development.

Wizz Air Airlines began operating at Kutaisi International Airport in 2012.
