BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. The number of foreigners who visited Azerbaijan grew in 2021, Trend reports via the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.

According to the agency, this figure amounted to 791,751, down by one percent in annual terms.

The top 10 countries by the number of foreigners who visited Azerbaijan last year included Russia (258,315 people, an increase of 15 percent), Türkiye (197,907 people, growth of 23 percent), Iran (125,358 people, up by 72 percent), Georgia (62,666 people, down by 66 percent), Ukraine (17,428 people, increase of three percent), UAE (17,320 people, growth of 117 percent), UK (9,428 people, up by 33 percent), Saudi Arabia (8,834 people, decline of 26 percent), Kazakhstan (6,928 people, decrease of 19 percent), and Israel (6,655 people, up by 57 percent).

From January through August 2022, Azerbaijan was visited by over one million foreign citizens, which is more than twice as high as in the same period last year (442,592).

The top 10 countries by the number of foreigners who visited Azerbaijan in August 2022 included Russia (43,000 people), Türkiye (24,200 people), Saudi Arabia (22,800 people), Iran (14,400 people), Georgia (7,600 people), Pakistan (6,900 people), India (5,700 people), UAE (4,700 people), Kuwait (4,400 people) and Oman (4,000 people).
