MCV vessels to be used on Trans-Caspian International Transport Route

Kazakhstan’s Kazmotransflot (KMTF) National Sea Carrier is considering use of MCV (Modular Capture Vessel) for transporting containers at the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), KMTF representative told Trend.

In turn, a representative of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development said that Kazakhstan is carrying out large-scale work to develop and increase transit area of economy and thus attaches great importance to international transport corridors, including TITR.

The ministry official said that the development of multimodal transportation will significantly expand the geography of container and logistics services on the Eurasian continent.

“This will also contribute to an increase in containerization level at the TITR corridor and development of new services in the field of transportation and logistics aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the corridor,” the official said.

In this regard, KMTF is considering use of MCV vessels for transporting containers at the route.

“To date, a project has been developed for re-equipment of MCV to a container ship,” the official said.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route starts from Southeast Asia and China, runs through Kazakhstan, the Caspian sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries.

TITR is aimed to coordinate interaction of all the participants of transportation of goods and containers along the route from Asia to Europe and in the reversed direction, including needed informational support.
