BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia's international airports are slowly getting the passenger traffic back on track, said Deputy General Director of TAV Georgia Tea Zakaradze, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Some 19 percent of the 2019 passenger traffic has been restored by March 2021, while by April - 27 percent, she said.

Zakradze explained that comparison was basically made with 2019, because airports almost halted operations in 2020.

“How the process will continue depends on the epidemiological situation. The government is making everything to avoid COVID-19 spread. There are airports, which operate under restrictions. In our case, we have open borders with some countries," he said.

According to her, the interest of airlines is growing both towards Tbilisi and Batumi airports.

"Air Astana starts regular flights from Batumi Airport, we will have flights to Almaty,” Zakradze said.

According to her, Air company El AL and Pegasus also will start flights from Batumi. As for Tbilisi, Eurowings and Freebird airlines will perform flights from Tbilisi International Airport.
