The flights from Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) decreased by 56 percent yesterday on August 16, compared to July 16, 2021, Director General of Iran Airports Company's branch in Razavi Khorasan Province, Mahmoud Amani told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Amani, a total of 73 domestic flights were held at the Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport yesterday. About 3,890 people flew in total.

“So, 36 planes with 420 passengers landed at this airport yesterday. At the same time, 37 planes with 3,470 passengers departed from the airport,” he added.

The director-general noted that in addition, 14 international flights were held at Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport on August 16. About 1,717 people flew in total.

Amani said that 7 planes with 657 passengers landed at this airport, while 7 planes with 1,060 passengers departed from the airport. This is a decrease of 22 percent, compared to July 16, 2021.

Reportedly, the Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport is located on an area of 540 hectares. It is the second busiest airport in Iran after Tehran's Mehrabad Airport. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, daily 40,000 passengers were transported through this airport.
