Iran records increase in flights from Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport

The flights from Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 73 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 26,128 planes took off and landed at the airport in 7 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 15,115.

In addition, 2,546,586 people were transported through the Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad within seven months. Passenger transportation increased by 39 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 1,828,812 passengers had been transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

“At the same time, 23,669 tons of cargo were transported through the Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad in 7 months. Cargo transportation increased by 65 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, a total of 14,361 tons of cargo had been transported through this airport,” the statistics said.

As reported, the Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport is located on an area of 540 hectares. It is the second busiest airport in Iran after Tehran's Mehrabad Airport. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, daily 40,000 passengers were transported through this airport.
