BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. A number of roads with a total length of 1,117 km were laid in Iran for the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), an official of Iran’s Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company (CDTIC), Masoud Jahani said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
According to Jahani, 884 kilometers of the roads laid in the country for the last year were put into use.
The official also added that 293 km of controlled-access highways are planned to be launched in the country by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024).
“Generally, 415 km of controlled-access highways are expected to be put into use in the country by the end of the current Iranian government's term (August 2025). In this regard, 170 trillion rials (about $4.05 billion) is planned to be spent,” he said.
In addition, 750 km long highways and trunk roads are planned to be put into use in Iran during the current Iranian year, while the figure is expected to reach 1,800 km by the end of the current government's term, Jahani noted.
Currently, there are 2,793 km long controlled-access highways and 45,170 km long highways and trunk roads in Iran.
