TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 1. Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran discussed the organization of an international transport corridor through Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
Within the framework of the meeting, held in the format of a videoconference, the issues of accelerating the signing of an agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran on the organization of an international transport corridor and reducing fees for international road transport through Iran were discussed.
At the same time, they discussed the possibilities of using the Iranian ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar for export and import cargo, as well as the development of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Iran international transport corridor.
Meanwhile, cooperation between the railway departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was discussed in Tashkent in mid-July. It was about discounts on transit sections, increasing the capacity and volume of container traffic, the creation of joint terminals.
