UN Deputy Secretary General votes in Kazakh parliamentary elections

UN Deputy Secretary General, Director General of the UN Geneva office Kassymzhomart Tokaev has today voted in the elections to the Majilis (lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament) at a polling station under the country’s embassy in Switzerland, the Kazakh Permanent Mission in Geneva said.

UN Deputy Secretary General, Director General of the UN Geneva office Kassymzhomart Tokaev has today voted in the elections to the Majilis (lower chamber of the Kazakh parliament) at a polling station under the country's embassy in Switzerland, the Kazakh Permanent Mission in Geneva said.

Member of the Bureau of the Political Council of Nur Otan People's Democratic Party Tokayev congratulated the participants of this event.

Tokayev expressed confidence that the Kazakh people full use their civil and political rights guaranteed by the Kazakh Constitution. They will make the right choice in favor of prosperity and modernization of the country, peace and harmony in the society.

The diplomat noted that Kazakhstan headed by President Nazarbayev became a successful and influential country during 20 years of its independence. The country is respected by the global community.

The elections to Majilis and maslikhats are held today in Kazakhstan. The preliminary election results will be announced on January 16.

The Nur Otan national-democratic party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide social-democratic party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
