An ecological laboratory will be created near the Borovoe Lake at the end of 2015, Director General of "Nazarbayev University Research and Innovation System" Kanat Baygarin reported.
"We plan to install a mast, which will measure the wind speed and more this month.
All data will be delivered to us at the center. The construction itself is planned to be launched at the beginning of next year. I believe that, at the end of 2015, construction work will be completed," Baygarin reported.
The center will include around 30 laboratories, a scientific campus, an observatory of around 20 hectares square and a hotel for guests and partners.
According to him, the basis for the creation of such a laboratory is the deteriorating ecological situation in the region that worsens every year.
Since the 1960s, the water level in Borovoe resort zone has decreased three meters, Baygarin reported. It is planned to carry out joint work with French specialists in order to better the situation.
"Three meters is a significant figure for a water system. The lakes are going dry and the changes are visible to the naked eye. We will conduct a hydrological research jointly with the French, as they have successfully resolved their own water problems," Baygarin said.
While making a speech at the second meeting of the Supreme Board of Trustees, "Nazarbayev University", "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools" and "Nazarbayev Fund", President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered the creation of an ecological laboratory at Burabay (Borovoe) resort zone.
