By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Eurasian transit potential of Kazakhstan may develop in tandem with the alternative routes, especially those running through Azerbaijan, Aidarkhan Kussainov, director general of the Almagest consultancy said.

He made the remarks at the meeting of the "World of Eurasia' expert group on the topic titled 'By expanding the single market: transit potential of EAU'.

He said Kazakhstan may develop its Eurasian transit potential by increasing its activity on alternative routes, that's to say, by developing the transit in its corridor, as well as the alternative routes beyond the EAU.

The director general added that the transport potential of the EAU largely depends on Russia, since the Asia-Europe corridor mainly runs through this country's territory.

"Therefore, the Russian monopoly transport workers are tempted to take the appropriate niche. With this regard, it is necessary to create alternative corridors through Kazakhstan, in particular though the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan," the expert said.

Kussainov said namely such activity on the alternative routes will stimulate the development of the transit potential of the Eurasian Economic Union.
