Trend:

Construction of a vegetable oil extraction plant in Petropavlovsk city has started [the city is capital of Kazakhstan's North-Kazakhstan province] , head province Kumar Aksakalov said on a social network page, Trend reports referring to Kazinform.

According to Aksakalov, the plant will process 370,000 tons of oilseeds per year and will have no problems with raw materials, since the region is a leader in the production of oilseeds.

"Every year 1 million hectares are sown, which is 30 percent of the total area countrywide. By launching the new plant, we’ll be able to process the lion's share of oilseeds in the region,” he noted. “The enterprise will be also supplied with high-protein feed additives: flour and meal, which are now imported from other regions. Maslodel LLP [local company] makes investments amounting to 15 billion tenge ($35 million). More than 200 permanent jobs will be opened [at the oil extraction plant].”

The province's head also spoke about the construction of the second phase of the pig complex at a cost of 5 billion tenge ($1.2 million).

The launch of the project is expected in early August, after which the number of pigs will increase twice - up to 100,000. This year, investors intend to start construction of new buildings and expand the pig complex to 200,000 pigs, added Aksakalov.
