The territorial departments of the Committee for Atomic and Energy Supervision and Control at Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, based on requests from KEGOC [national grid operator], conducted 11 unscheduled monitorings, Trend reports citing Kazinform via the ministry.
According to the monitoring results, 12 "gray mining" (illegal crypto mining) companies were detected in the Zhambyl region and one in the Pavlodar region.
Based on the results of control activities carried out by the territorial departments, the power supply of all of the companies, which carried out the illegal crypto mining activities with a total capacity of 128.3 MW was shut down.
