Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a meeting in the Digital Office of the Government with the participation of the heads of central state bodies and heads of the regions on the regulation of prices for socially significant food products, Trend reports citing Рrimeminister.kz.

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Yerzhan Kaldybayev, Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev, Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition Serik Zhumangarin, head of the Kyzylorda region Gulshara Abdykalikova, mayor of Nur-Sultan city Altay Kulginov and others informed about the current situation and the work underway.

The general index of growth in prices for socially significant food products in Kazakhstan over the past week amounted to zero percent.

According to the information, due to the measures taken, the prices for onions decreased by 0.9 percent, salt – by 0.4 percent and rice – by 0.3 percent for the fourth week in a row.

Besides, a decrease by 0.1 percent in the prices for beef, short ribbed pasta tubes and flour was recorded during the week, and prices for other products remained stable. The target financing level of the "reverse scheme" in the country was accomplished by 95.7 percent.

Effective work on the "reverse scheme" has been recorded in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan and Turkestan regions.

A low implementation level of work remains in the Kyzylorda and Mangistau regions. Over the past week, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition sent 10 notifications of signs of price collusion and abuse of a dominant position to the subjects of the poultry and sugar market in Zhambyl, North Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda and Aktobe regions.

Six acts of antimonopoly compliance were concluded with manufacturers, wholesale suppliers and retail chains in Almaty, Atyrau and East Kazakhstan regions. In general, 160 acts of antimonopoly compliance were concluded.

The prime minister instructed the central state and local executive bodies to continue work to stabilize and reduce prices for socially significant food products, as well as curb the overall inflation rate within 8.5 percent. The regional authorities were instructed to provide a five-month supply of food and timely carry out interventions to prevent price increase cases.

The head of government drew particular attention to the need to intensify the work of regional commissions to investigate intermediary schemes along the entire pricing chain.
