Some 80 percent of investments from Germany in Kazakhstan’s economy accounted for non-primary sector, Roman Vassilenko, Kazakh deputy foreign minister, said, Trend reports via the ministry.
Vassilenko made the remark at a briefing following the results of Kazakh-German political consultations.
“Currently, Germany is among Kazakhstan’s leading trade partners, and our country is the main market for German business in the Central Asia. There is a growing interest of German companies in our country, where about thousand enterprises with the participation of German capital are now successfully operating,” he noted.
The deputy foreign minister emphasized that over the last 15 years, the vast majority of direct investments from Germany to Kazakhstan, amounting to impressive $5.3 billion, has been allocated to the qualitative development of agriculture, renewable energy sources, healthcare, transport logistics and other priority spheres.
Vassilenko also noted the successful implementation of the construction project of the largest solar power plant in Central Asia with a capacity of 100 megawatts in Saran city with the active participation of the German Goldbeck Solar company.
"In the near future, the Dresden SVEVIND company will start implementing the largest project for the construction of wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 45 gigawatts in the steppe regions of western and central Kazakhstan,” he further said.
Besides, according to him, more than 35 agreements are currently in force between the two countries, including those reached during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visits to Germany in December 2019 and February 2020.
“Kazakh-German economic diplomacy institutions such as the Berlin Eurasian Club and the Intergovernmental Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation operate efficiently,” the deputy foreign minister also noted.
“Our main message to German businessmen and investors is that Kazakhstan today is new opportunities and huge potential for profitable business. We constantly improve the investment climate and I’m sure that our joint work will lead to new achievements," added Vassilenko.
