BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. The volume of retail trade in Kazakhstan totaled 4.8 trillion Kazakh tenge ($10.7 billion) from January through April 2023 which is 10.5 percent more than in the same period in 2022, Trend reports via the Kazakh Bureau of National Statistics.
Retail sales of goods by trading enterprises amounted to 3.59 trillion Kazakh tenge ($8 billion), which is 14 percent more than in the same period last year. The share of food products in the total volume of retail trade is 28.3 percent, while that of non-food products - 71.7 percent.
The largest increase in sales volume was observed in the non-food sector, particularly at enterprises selling motor fuel, cars, computers, peripheral equipment, and software.
The largest share in the total volume of retail trade of the country from January through April 2023 fell on the cities of Almaty (30.9 percent) and Astana (12.2 percent), as well as Karaganda (8.1 percent) and East Kazakhstan (6.3 percent) regions.
