ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 8. The volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan amounted to 23 million tons from January through September 2023, which is 24 percent higher than during the same period of 2022, Trend reports.
According to the statistics, exports to Uzbekistan increased by 30 percent and reached 9.8 million tons. Grain exports increased by 30 percent (2.6 million tons), and coal exports doubled (2.1 million tons).
At the moment, railway workers of the two countries are electronically exchanging data on the transportation of goods using a railway consignment note and copies of shipping documents.
To increase paperless transportation in international freight traffic, electronic interaction with customs authorities and carriers is being implemented.
Loading on the Kazakhstan Railways network amounted to 213.8 million tons from January through October 2023, which is 2.1 tons higher than in the same period last year. Over 138 million tons were transported by rail throughout the republic. Exports increased by 7.1 percent to 75.7 million tons.
In addition, in October this figure was 23 million tons, which is 6 percent higher than the same period last year.
