Kazakhstan reveals volume of money transfers through international systems

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 30. The volume of money transfers through international money transfer systems (IMTS) in Kazakhstan amounted to 220,200 transactions worth 83.4 billion tenge (about $182.5 million) in November 2023, Trend reports.

The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that, compared to October 2023, there is a decrease in the number of transfers by 5.6 percent and a decrease in the volume of transactions by 9 percent.

The share of money transfers carried out in November 2023 on the territory of Kazakhstan is 1.2 percent of the total number and 2.1 percent of the total amount of money transfers via IMTS.

The share of money transfers sent abroad is 98.8 percent and 97.9 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, banks in Kazakhstan and Kazpost JSC provide their clients with money transfer services through systems such as Zolotaya Korona, Western Union, Contact, MoneyGram, and other IMTSs.

IMTSs are used by the population of Kazakhstan both for making transfers within the country and for sending or receiving money transfers abroad.
