ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 11. The volume of railway transportation between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 12.8 million tons from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Kazakhstan Railways, this figure has increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
At the same time, the exports from Kazakhstan reached 8 million tons, which is more than 17 percent year-on-year. Kazakhstan imported 4.8 million tons of cargo by rail; this figure has increased by 6 percent compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, the cargo transportation between Altynkol and Khorgos stations amounted to 5.3 million tons from January through May this year, while the cargo transportation through Dostyk station to China and back reached 7.4 million tons.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $6.27 billion from January through March 2024. This volume increased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($5.9 billion).
At the same time, exports to China for the above period amounted to $3.18 billion, while imports from China amounted to $3.09 billion.
