Kazakh President will participate in Alatau IT-City opening

(Kazinform) - Opening ceremony of Information Technologies Park Alatau IT-City with participation of Kazakh President will take place today in Alatau village near Almaty city, reports Trend.

Industry and Trade Minister Vladimir Shkolnik, head of Kazyna fund Kairat Kelimbetov, Chairman of Informatization and Communication Agency Askar Zhumagaliyev, representatives of public structures, diplomatic missions, participants of financial sector, banks, Kazakh IT companies and large transnational IT companies will take part in the event.

Microsoft EMEA Vice President Jan Muehlfeit, Director of Cisco Systems for CIS states Robert Agee, President of Thales International Jean-Paul Perrier, and representatives of International Association of Technology Parks, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese technology parks and others arrived for participation in the ceremony as well.

Alatau IT-City is the first technologies park with IT technologies in Kazakhstan. At the area of 14 ha there are located 4 main buildings and 27 support facilities.

One of the projects that IT-city will realize is a plant on production of liquid-crystal panels. It is a joint enterprise of National Innovation Fund JSC, Glotur JSC and DS Multimedia JSC (Singapore). Thales Communications Company plans to produce radio systems, correspondent accessories and software.

There are created favorable conditions in the park for leading international information and telecommunication companies. This represents a perfect impetus for attraction of investments to IT-branch and technologies transfers.

Within the framework of the event in Alatau IT-City will be held an exposition-presentation of the park's projects and international conference Information society. Development strategy for Kazakhstan.

13 companies as Microsoft, Oracle, Thales, Kazkosmos, Cisco Systems and others will demonstrate their advanced technologies and production able to promote increase of IT efficiency.

Within the forum there will be discussed development of information technologies in Kazakhstan, solution of problems connected with informatization of the state and etc.

This park was created with the purpose of realization of the Strategy of Kazakhstan's industrial and innovation development for 2003-2015 in accordance with the President's decree as of August 18, 2003.

The Information Technologies Park is the first object of High Tech industry and it will be a new intellectual center in Central Asia. There were signed memos of cooperation with such leading world companies as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Siemens, Cisco Systems, , Sun Microsystems, Samsung and others.

Activity of the technologies park is aimed at creation, enhancement and development of IT-industry of Kazakhstan within the framework of state priorities on diversification of economy, development of high technologies and creation of working places for highly qualified personnel.
