Reason for Resignation of Head of Kazakhstan's Government Made Public

The reason why the Government of Kazakhstan has resigned has been announced. Sergey Kuyanov, the Press Secretary for the Country's Prime Minister, Danial Akhmetov, informed Trend Correspondent to Kazakhstan that the Head of the Kazakhstan Government had personally written his resignation and sent it to the Kazakhstan President, Nursoultan Nazarbayev.

The reason is very simple, the man is exhausted. His premiership term is three years. None of his predecessors has worked such a long term on this post. It is not a short period, he explained.

In accordance with the legislation, the Head of State will appoint a new Prime Minister on the agreement of the Parliament of the Country. The joint sitting of the Chambers of the Kazakhstan Parliament has already been set for 10 January.

The press service of the Government said that Mr. Akhmetov had said that Kazakhstan's President had confirmed his resignation.

Danial Akhmetov, 53-year-old had led the Kazakhstan Government since summer 2003. He also was Akim (the Head of the Executive Power) of Pavlodar and North-Kazakhstan Regions.

According to certain information, the candidacy of Karim Masimov has been nominated for the post of Prime Minister of the Country. The 41-year-oil Masimov has taken the post of Vice-Premier and been responsible for the development of strategic directions in the development of the economy of the country.

Previously Mr. Masimov also headed commercial People's Bank of Kazakhstan. In addition, he was the Assistant President, Transport and Telecommunications Minister, Vice-Premier, Economy and Budget Planning Minister of the Country.
