Kyrgyzstan's import of passenger cars from Germany picks up

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 9. Kyrgyzstan imported 5,320 passenger cars from Germany from January through October 2023, which is an increase of 7.5 times compared to the same period of 2022 (706 cars), Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the value of these imports amounted to $217.977 million, marking a 5.6-times increase year-on-year ($38.672 million from January through October 2022).

During the period from January through October 2023, Russia ranked sixth among the countries supplying passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan.

The largest number of passenger cars imported to Kyrgyzstan came from China—44,720 cars valued at $688.718 million. South Korea secured the second position with 42,033 cars amounting to $352.884 million, while the US held the third place in terms of imported cars with 16,275 cars totaling $173.802 million.

Additionally, Kyrgyzstan imported 12,068 passenger cars from Russia valued at $117.010 million.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 143,829 passenger cars, with an overall value surpassing $1.972 billion from January through October 2023. The import volume increased by 4.9 times compared to the same period in 2022, while the value rose by 5.7 times year-on-year.

Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with Germany amounted to $343.217 million from January through October 2023, increasing by 2.8 times compared to the same period in 2022 ($120.921 million).

Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Germany totaled $6.157 million from January through October 2023, decreasing by 52.5 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($12.965 million).

The country’s imports from Germany amounted to $337.059 million, rising by 3.1 times compared to the same period in 2022 ($107.956 million).
