Tajik-Chinese CJSC TALCO Gold plans to build a mining and processing plant on the basis of the gold and silver deposit Konchoch in the Aini district of Sughd region worth $200 million, Director of the enterprise Li Feng said, Prime economic agency reported.
The capacity of the plant will be comparable with the JV "Zarafshon" in Penjikent (at the end of 2017, production of 3.85 tons of gold, plan for 2018 — more than 6.5 tons).
TALCO Gold intends to start construction "in the near future", and to complete it by the end of 2019 and to start production in the beginning of 2020.
According to preliminary estimates, the Konchoch deposit contains 55 tons of gold, 44 tons of silver, 184 tons of mercury, 268,000 tons of antimony and 205,000 tons of fluorite.
According to the decree of the Government of Tajikistan dated April 1, 2017, it has allowed the state unitary enterprise (SUE) "Tajik Aluminium Company" to create "TALCO Gold" company on the basis of property of a geological camp Konchoch with the participation of foreign investors, and to transfer to the new enterprise for development the group of fields Konchoch and Skalnoye (Chulboi).
