Turkmenistan partakes in environmental protection talks within WGECC

Turkmenistan has taken part in discussing the issues of the EU–Central Asia Working Group on Environment and Climate Change (WGECC) session, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The mentioned topic was discussed during a videoconference of the first WGECC session of the The European Union-Central Asia (EU-CA) Water and Environment Cooperation Platform (WECOOP) project.

The executives of the European Commission Directorate-General for Environment, representatives of the The Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea Protection of Italy, EU Delegation to Kazakhstan, as well as the senior specialists on the issues of nature protection and climate change of the Central Asian countries participated in the session.

The Turkmen side was represented by specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection, State Committee for Water Resources and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The parties discussed the progress of the WGECC program and the work Plan of the WECOOP project, taking into account the current crisis caused by the coronavirus.

The priority spheres of action of the 10th WGECC session planned for the spring of 2021 in Almaty were discussed.
