Ambassador Extraordinary, Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan completes diplomatic mission

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Katsumata Takahiko has completed his diplomatic mission in the country, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Katsumata Takahiko on October 22, 2020.

The parties discussed issues of further development of relations in the trade and economic, fuel and energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, including inter-parliamentary contacts.

The importance of the work carried out by public and private structures of the two countries was emphasized. Thus, this work contributes to strengthening economic and political cooperation, as well as increasing the investment involvement of the Japanese side in the Turkmen market.

The sides highly appreciated the development of the Turkmen-Japanese partnership.

As reported, Turkmenistan and Japan successfully cooperate within the framework of international organizations, in particular within the UN. In recent years, cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields has increased.

A number of major projects have been implemented with the participation of Japanese companies. Among them - ammonia and urea plant in Turkmenistan's city of Mary, a urea plant and polymer complex in the Balkan region, an enterprise for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Akhal region.

Japan has also shown interest in participating in projects to develop the industrial infrastructure of the Galkynysh gas field.
