BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Turkmenistan exported 17,000 tons of tomatoes to the city of Moscow, as well as the Moscow and Tula regions from January through March 17, Trend reports via Russian Rosselkhoznadzor Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.

Specialists of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center (FGBI "VNIIKR") conducted laboratory studies that confirmed the compliance of these products with quarantine phytosanitary requirements.

After successfully passing the quarantine phytosanitary control procedure, tomatoes are released for free sale.

Turkmenistan exported 104,000 tons of greenhouse tomatoes to foreign countries last year, which is almost twice as much as in the same period of 2021.

Furthermore, 712 hectares of greenhouse areas have been allocated for the cultivation of greenhouse vegetables in Turkmenistan, including tomatoes. Modern technologies and seeds of tall and high-yielding varieties are used in greenhouses for cultivation in the closed ground.

The tomato growing season lasts almost all year round, excluding the hot period when sanitary cleaning, plant change, and nutrient substrates are carried out in greenhouses, and ground vegetables come into force on the market, which fills the consumer basket until winter.
