By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:
Uzbekistan banned the state purchases of 529 types of foreign goods, Trend reports referring to the Information retrieval system of the National Legislation Database in Uzbekistan.
It is reported that the list of prohibited goods includes food (chocolate, waffles, butter, etc.), pharmaceutical products (medicines, medical supplies), household appliances (air conditioners, monitors, washing machines, etc.), as well as tractors and cars.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, the basis for inclusion in this list is the presence in the domestic market of two or more manufacturers of such goods.
The import of the listed goods by way of public procurement is permitted only as an exception. In particular, the importer submits an application stating that the imported product has other properties than the domestic one.
This process includes eight stages, including the importer's application.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan introduced a list of imported goods which were temporarily banned from public procurement. Starting from October last year, the heads of budgetary organizations are obliged to study alternative opportunities for purchasing goods from local manufacturers registered on the cooperation.uz portal.
