Uzbekistan and Ukraine discussed the formation of a joint roadmap to saturate interaction with specific measures in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, Trend reports referring to the embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Kurmanov met with the mayor of the capital of Ukraine Vitaly Klitschko in order to further expand cooperation through twinning relations between Tashkent and Kyiv.

It was noted that although twinning relations between the two cities were established in January 1998, a noticeable drop in activity between the capitals of the two countries dictates the need to form new approaches to the development of relations between the two cities.

It was based on this understanding that a friendly exchange of views took place, during which the issues of intensifying inter-municipal cooperation through the formation of a joint roadmap for saturating interaction with specific events in the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as organizing mutual visits of heads of cities were substantively discussed.

The mayor of Kyiv noted that the formation of the road map will make it possible to translate cooperation into a specific format as soon as possible.

The Ukrainian side was also informed about large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan. Particular emphasis was placed on measures to liberalize the economy, support entrepreneurship, and develop interregional cooperation.

In turn, the mayor of Kyiv informed about the projects being implemented in the city by the city administration, and also outlined the main areas in which the twin cities could achieve tangible results in the short term, and expressed readiness to provide all-round support in the activities of the Embassy to enhance bilateral relationships.
