Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to create center for cross-border co-op

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan intend to open the "Central Asia" International Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the Uzbek media.

This project has been recently discussed by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Trade of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov.

The practical significance of the project on the creation of the "Central Asia" International Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation in the border areas of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was stressed.

“During the dialogue, the sides stressed that the implementation of this project will allow effectively building a transport and logistics policy of relations between the two countries and greatly reduce the time and financial costs for the supply of the Uzbek and Kazakh products to the promising markets,” the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan said.

The sides hope that the creation of the center will help to attract mutual investments and implement joint projects.

The interlocutors also touched upon the issues of investment, trade, economic and transport and logistics cooperation. The issue related to the process of removing existing barriers to trade and increasing trade turnover was discussed.
