BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) allowed the supply of tomatoes and peppers to Russia from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan starting from June 28, 2021, Trend reports referring to the Rosselkhoznadzor.

Rosselkhoznadzor, under the guarantee of the State Plant Quarantine Inspection under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, allowed the supply of tomatoes and peppers to Russia from 15 Uzbek enterprises located in the Fergana region.

It is reported that the decision was made on the basis of information provided by the Uzbek side about enterprises free from the tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV), as well as the results of the agreements reached at the negotiations between the departments held on June 22, 2021.

Since November 26, 2020, the import of tomatoes and peppers into Russia from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan has been prohibited due to the detection of the tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) in products from this region, in respect of which the Rosselkhoznadzor introduced a temporary quarantine phytosanitary measure.

In April 2021, Rosselkhoznadzor allowed the import of peppers and tomatoes from 17 enterprises in Fergana, Navoi and Kashkadarya regions.
