Uzbekistan ranks second in number of foreign shareholders in Kazakhstan

Shares of Uzbek companies are owned by 399 citizens of Kazakhstan and three legal entities, Trend reports referring to the Central Securities Depository (payment agent of the National Bank of Kazakhstan).

According to the information, Kazakhstan outstripped all other countries in terms of the investment portfolio in joint-stock companies of Uzbekistan - 1.15 trillion soums ($108 million). This is the volume of shares at par value that belonged to individuals and legal entities in Kazakhstan as of August 1, 2021.

In general, Central Securities Depository reports that foreigners in Uzbekistan own a share of 3.38 trillion soums ($3.2 billion).

In terms of the number of foreign shareholders in the organizations of Kazakhstan, it is in second place. The Russians have the first line. Today, 1,411 citizens of Russia are represented in joint-stock companies of Kazakhstan.

In addition to individuals, 26 Russian organizations have stakes in various companies. In general, this is almost half of the total number of foreign owners (2,985).

As of August 1, the total number of shareholders in JSCs of Kazakhstan amounts to about 926,000. Of these, 92.8 percent are individuals, 7.1 percent are legal entities and 0.32 percent are foreign shareholders.

Earlier, it was reported that the number of foreign shareholders in Uzbek companies has grown by 3 percent since the beginning of the year. According to financial analyst and partner of Avesta Investment Group Karen Srapionov, such an increase is insignificant, but it shows a certain interest in the market.
