Abadan Oil Refinery to boost gasoline output

A new catalytic cracking unit will go on stream in Abadan Oil Refinery by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2010) which will add to the refinery's daily gasoline output by 7 million liters.

Managing Director of Abadan Oil Refining Company Alireza Abhaji said that by putting the unit into operation, Abadan Refinery could supply 20 percent of the domestic gasoline demand, IRINN reported on Sunday.

The cracking unit will be established using the universal oil product (UOP) technology and will have the capacity of producing 45,000 barrels of catalytic cracker per day.

Catalytic cracker is a chemical reactor used for converting oils with high boiling points into fuels with lower boiling points.
