Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said Iranian people want face-to-face war with the Zionist regime, Fars News Agency reported.

Mr Vahidi added that they (Israel) threaten Iran loudly, and this is a show, because they know that Iran can remove Israel from the world map.

"The Zionist regime is at the edge of collapse," he said.

Iran and Israel cut diplomatic relations after Iranian Islamic Revolution in 1979. Israel accuses Iran of manufacturing nuclear weapon and with regard to "Iran's plan to attack Tel-Aviv", urges that it should strike over Iran's nuclear facility preemptively.

As tensions over Iran's nuclear program rise, the U.S. has tightened economic sanctions on Iran recently, while trying hard to prevent Israel from launching a military strike on the country that could have destabilizing effects in the Middle East.

When asked an interview with a U.S. TV network on Feb. 5 that whether Israel is determined to attack Iran during, U.S. President Barack Obama said he did not think that Israel made such a decision, adding that the U.S. and Israel will work "in lockstep" on dealing with the Iranian nuclear standoff.

However, Leon Panetta, the U.S. Defence Secretary, said earlier that Israel likely attack Iran as early as April.
