By Rahim Zamanov - Trend:

Iran's South Pars gas field is now 92.6 percent complete, the project manager of the phase, Hamid Akbari, said on Dec. 13, the IRNA News Agency reported.

"Currently seven wells of the phase's A platform is ready to come on stream," he said.

"The drilling operation of the other wells has been completed, as well," Akbari added.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Dec. 3 that developing the giant South Pars gas field is the top priority of the oil ministry.

"President Rouhani has stressed that the gas field should become fully operational as soon as possible, so the ministry will do its best to facilitate the development projects of different phases," the Fars News Agency quoted Zanganeh as saying.

Zanganeh also said the development projects of South gas field's phases will be accelerated in the next calendar year (to start March 21, 2014).

He went on to note that the major parts of the mentioned phases will be completed by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2014).

"The drilling operations in some phases are behind the schedule, but we hope to complete them in time," Zanganeh added.

"We will accept no excuse from the contractors," he warned.

He went on to note that the current development pace of the five top-priority phases of the project is better when compared to the period of time before the current administration took office.

Zanganeh said on Nov. 29 that the country's gas sweetening capacity will increase by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2014).

"The gas sweetening facility of phase 12 will also start production by the end of current year," Zanganeh said.

"Some 12 million cubic meters of gas per day will be sweetened in the facility," he added.

The British Petroleum Company also said in its latest report that Iran's dry natural gas output in the previous year was around 160.5 billion cubic meters.

In general Iran's dry natural gas output plus the amount injected to the oil wells stand at 570 million cubic meters per day.
