BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. The export of iron ore pellets and concentrate from Iran for 2 months of the current Iranian year (March 20–May 20, 2024) amounted to 3.25 million tons worth $248 million, the statistics of Iran's Steel Producers' Association said, Trend reports.
As to statistics, the value and weight of Iranian iron ore pellets and concentrate exports for two months declined by 21.7 percent and climbed by 4.8 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in the previous Iranian year.
Meanwhile, during the last 2 months, Iran's exports of iron ore pellets and concentrate from the country amounted to 3.1 million tons worth $317 million.
In addition, the data showed that over the previous two months, Iran exported 2.1 million tons of iron ore pellets, valued at $159 million. Its value fell 23.1 percent, and its weight rose 11.7 percent when compared to the same time last year. Iran exported 1.88 million tons of iron ore pellets for $207 million during the same period last year.
The statistics indicate that Iran's iron ore concentrate exports for 2 months amounted to 1.15 million tons worth $89 million. This is 18.5 percent less in value and 5.7 percent less in weight compared to the same period last year. However, in the same month of last year, Iran exported about 1.22 million tons of iron ore concentrate worth $110 million.
Additionally, it should be noted that Iran produces an average of 50 million tons of iron ore pellets annually.
Iran can churn out an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year.
To note, Iran's exports of Iranian iron ore pellets and concentrates last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) amounted to about 17.2 million tons with a total value of $1.7 billion. The exports of iron ore pellets and concentrates of Iran last year increased by 125 percent in value and 160 percent in weight compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
