Pasargad bitumen refinery in Iran exports products to China, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Oman, and some Persian Gulf states.

The refinery has exported over 180,000 metric tons of bitumen since the beginning of the current year to the regional countries, Iran's IRIB reported on September 23.

Pasargad bitumen refinery is regarded as the largest of its kind in the Middle East.

Iran has inked a deal to export 500,000 metric tons of bitumen to one of the Persian Gulf states, Mohsen Delaviz, managing director of Iran's Pasargad Oil Company, said on September 21.

Delaviz said on August 17 that Iran is currently exporting bitumen to 25 countries in the Middle East, the South and the East Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Iran is the seventh biggest producer of bitumen and the fourth biggest exporter in the world, he said.

Due to the international sanctions against Iran, European countries buy Iranian bitumen from intermediates, he said.

In the past Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, Iran produced 4 million metric tons of bitumen, of which 2.3 million metric tons was exported, valued at $2 billion, he said.
