Iran increases bony fish trawling in Caspian Sea

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The catch of bony fish in the Caspian Sea by Iran increased by 15 percent compared to the previous year (from October 17, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the representative of the Iranian Fisheries Organization, Abbas Pour Naderi said, Trend reports.

According to Abbas Pour Naderi, the volume of bony fish caught by Iran in the Caspian Sea during the specified period amounted to 6,763 tons. However, in the previous similar period, 5,899 tons of bony fish were caught in the Caspian Sea.

The official noted that the catch of bony fish on the coasts of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces of Iran has already been stopped, and the catch of bony fish on the coast of Gulistan province has been extended until the end of the 1st month (April 20, 2024).

Meanwhile, the bony fish of the Caspian Sea of Iran are caught in the waters of the provinces of Mazandaran, Gilan, and Gulistan.

To note, currently, 347 cooperatives are engaged in fishing in the north and south of the country. 136,000 people are engaged in fishing in the country. Of these, 9,500 are engaged in fishing in the Caspian Sea in the north of the country and 126,500 in the south, in the Persian and Oman Bays.
