BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Iran's petrochemical companies are striving for active participation in the country's oil and gas production and refining sectors, Deputy Minister for Petrochemical Affairs, Head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Hassan Abbaszadeh told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the country's petrochemical companies are working to reduce the export of crude oil and focus on exporting more valuable products.
''The companies are transforming hydrocarbon products into further products, and in parallel, they are working on converting semi-processed products into final products,'' he explained.
Abbaszadeh mentioned that petrochemical companies are also involved in the development of gas fields to ensure a steady supply of raw materials.
"The country's petrochemical companies are participating in projects related to the collection of flare gas in the Asaluyeh County of Bushehr Province. In the coming months, facilities will be commissioned within the framework of several projects related to the collection of flare gas," he added.
To note, Iran currently has 72 petrochemical enterprises. The potential of petrochemical production is 96 million tons per year.
