At least 1,500 houses suffered serious damages and 300 houses were destroyed after an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 rocked Iran's southeastern province of Kerman on December 21, authorities said.
The governor-general of Kerman Province, Alireza Razmhosseini said that rescue and relief workers have been dispatched to the earthquake-hit areas, local media reported.
According to the officials, about 42 individuals were injured following the tremor and the epicenter of the earthquake was in Kuhbanan town of the province.
Earlier on Wednesday, another quake of magnitude 5.2 struck a town near the capital Tehran, killing two people and injuring 117.
