1. FEC

а) Oil and gas production

In January-June, Azerbaijan generated more than 25.3 million tons of crude oil and condensate, which is 2.1 percent more than oil and condensate in January-June 2009, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.

Gas production in January-June in Azerbaijan amounted to more than 13.1 billion cubic meters, which is 9.9 percent more than the same period of last year.

In January-June more than 9.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, or 6 percent less than the same period of last year was generated in Azerbaijan.

The volume of electricity generated by hydroelectric power stations was more than 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours, or 2,2 times more than the same period of the last year. This increase is stipulated by water levels in rivers Kura and Araz.

b) Refinery

More than 2.46 million tons of oil products were produced in January-June in Azerbaijan compared to more than 2,2 million tons in January-June 2009, SOCAR said.

In January-June, the largest volume of production fell to diesel fuel - about 1.2 million tons compared to 1.05 million tons in January-June last year.

Two Baku refineries processed more than 3.1 million tons with total capacity of 20 million tons a year compared to 3 million tonnes over the same period last year.

v) Realization

The State Statistics Committee reported that approximately 1.7mln tons of oil products were sold to the internal market of Azerbaijan in January-June 2010, which is equal to the same period of 2009.  

Some 482,400 tons of the total volume of oil products was petrol, which is an increase of 6.1 percent than in the same period of 2009. The wholesale price for one ton of А-92 gasoline in the internal market (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 670 manats and А-95 - 736 manats. According to the State Statistics Committee, Azpetrol received over 234,400 tons of gasoline, SOCAR- 89,700 tons and LUKOIL - 73,300.

In January-May, 408,200 tons of diesel fuel was sold to the domestic market, which is by 15.8 percent more compared to the same period of 2009. The wholesale cost of 1 ton of diesel fuel (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 485 manats. Azpetrol received roughly 100,000 tons of diesel fuel, SOCAR Petroleum- 55,100 and LUKOIL - roughly 46,100 tons, the state statistics committee reported. The Azerbaijani State Caspian Sea Shipping Company received 11,000 tons of diesel fuel.

During the report period, 99,800 tons of fuel oil was sold to the domestic market, which is 45.3 percent less than the figure in the same period of 2009. The wholesale price of 1 ton of М-40 fuel oil in Azerbaijan is 100 manats (including delivery and VAT).

A total of 235,000 tons of aviation kerosene was sold in this period, 44.4 percent more than in the same period of 2009. The price of aviation kerosene is 307 manats per ton (including delivery and VAT).

The sale of petroleum bitumen totaled 92,700 - tons, a decrease of 6.6 percent from the same period of 2009. The wholesale price of 1 ton of bitumen BN 60/90 (VAT and transportation costs inclusive) is 160 manats.

In January-June, some 36,600 tons of LPG was sold to the interior market, which is by 6.4 percent less than the figure in January-May2009.

About 4,700 tons of fluid was sold on the domestic market in the first half of this year, which is 16.1 percent less than in the same period of 2009.

The other more than 348,200 tons of oil products were also sold, less by 18.2 percent than in the same period of 2009.

2. Chemical complex

In January and June SOCAR's Production Association Azerkimya (production of chemical products)made 29,100 tons of polyethylene, which is almost 96 percent more than the same period of 2009, the State Statistics Committee said.

There was a significant increase in all the main types of chemical products produced by PU in January-May. Decline was observed in the production of sulfuric acid.

Thus, in January-June, more than 2,800 tons of polyethylene pipe, tubing, hose were produced. It is 2,4 times more compared to the same period of last year.

About 135 tons of porous polyurethane plates and strips, or 18.2 percent less than the same period of last year were produced.

The increase is observed in the production of plastic utensils. In January and June about 15,5 tons were produced. It is 2,3 times more compared to same period of last year.

3. Power engineering

In January-June this year, "Azerenergy" (production and distribution of electricity in the regions of Azerbaijan) produced more than 9.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, a statement said.

About 7.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity fall to thermal power station, while the remaining 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours fell to hydropower stations.

In June, the company produced more than 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
